Introduction to R for Statistical Analysis

 

 

Workshop description

Do you want to learn about R but don’t know where to start? This workshop is for you! R is a popular free software program used for quantitative analysis in both the humanities and sciences. Many state-of-the-art models and various graphs are available in R. This introductory level R workshop discusses the R & RStudio environment, basic data preparation and management, descriptive statistics, and common statistical analysis (T-test, ANOVA, correlation, regression). This workshop is designed for beginners who have no or little experience in R and with opportunities for hands-on experience with sample data. Join us for this workshop and start your data analysis with R!

Installing and set-up

  • No experience with R or R Studio needed. (This is a beginner workshop.)
  • Please download and install R and R Studio on your laptop.
  • Bring your laptop to the workshop. If you need to borrow a laptop from the UBC Library Research Commons for the workshop, please email research.commons@ubc.ca.

Download and install R:

  1. Visit https://www.r-project.org to learn about R versions.
  2. Download and install R from your preferred CRAN Mirror here.

Download and install RStudio:

Visit https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/#download to choose the RStudio version you want to download and install.
